The Helio Sequence - Keep Your Eyes Ahead

The Helio Sequence is an indie electronica/shoegazer band signed to indie label Sub Pop. The band was formed in 1999 in Portland, Oregon and consists of Brandon Summers on guitar and vocals and Benjamin Weikel, who has also played for Modest Mouse, on keyboards and drums. The band produce an eccentric brand of electronic indie similar to that of The Postal Service and other bands.

Great indietronic album, by a great band. This album is very relaxed ,
I've got nothing more to add except that you should try it!

Creature with the Atom Brain is a band with members from Millionaire,Dead Stop Mauro & The Grooms and Vandal X. Sounds like desert rock, straight from Belgium.

CWTAB is a Belgian Experimental indie rock band from Antwerp, their music is often compared to queens of the stone age. But I like to think they've got their own distinct style. It's a sideproject of Tim Vanhamel (Millionaire), and Mark Lanegan also worked on this album. The album is a must have for everyone!

These New Puritans - Beat Pyramid

These New Puritans are a four-piece 'magic wave' band from Southend-on-sea, consisting of Jack Barnett (vocals, guitar, computer, sound), his twin brother George Barnett (drums, tapes, percussion), Tomas Hein (bass guitar, sampler, backing vocals, percussion) and Sophie Sleigh-Johnson (synthesizers). They mix indie with samplers and electronic experimental sounds.


Beat Pyramid is a rather unique album. Like written above, they mix electronic experimental sounds into indierock, what leads to some weird combination from time to time.
Not only their sound is rather unique, These New Puritans also decided to add some symmetry to their album, the album literally starts and ends with the same sentence "I will say this twice". Also notice the middle song "Infinity Ytinifni"..

The Gin Riots - The Mother Ruin EP

I noticed this one on the web today, they were described as "sounds like Arctic Monkeys" so I downloaded it right away, and gave it a try.
And I have to admit, I do recognise some Arctic Monkey-tunes in it.. Especially in 'The Daily Dust' and 'The polka', yet, there's so much more in their songs! So after reading this, don't start thinking they're tryin to copy some Arcticstyle, no, not at all you might just notice some resemblance.
But enough whining about the album, go and give it a try because the link will be deleted in a month, that's right, it's just a try-out version! And in my opinion that's a real nice opportunity those riot-guys give you.

Eels - Shootenanny!

Eels is an American rock band formed by singer/songwriter Mark Oliver Everett, better known as a Man Called E, Mr. E, or simply E. Other members rotate frequently, both in the studio and on stage. Eels' live shows include new material, interpretations of older songs, and usually some well-known cover versions.
Eels appear in many soundtracks, including all three Shrek movies.

The only thing I can tell you guys about this one is that it's a really nice album, loaded with beautiful, dreamy songs..

Clinic - Do it!

Clinic are a Liverpool based indie rock band noted for their often fast-paced, eclectic sound. Their distinguishing sound can commonly be recognized by their prominent use of vintage keyboards/organs, most notably the Philips Philicorda and peculiar off-scale chord progressions. The band's official website once stated they sound "like no other band".

As you know, Celox asked me to keep his blog running.
And, could I even please him more than I do by posting a leaked album? I guess not, so here it is: Clinic's fifth album 'Do it!'. I listened to the album myself, and I like it! Some even compare Clinic to the band they toured with for a while: Radiohead! Nice band to be compared to if you ask me..

An 8 day weekend

For me!
That's right, I'm going on a holiday and I'm not taking my laptop with me. So as a direct consequence I will not be able to post any music this week and next week (until the first of april). But on the other hand I will have a chance of listening to alot of music and when I come back I might have some rediscovered goodies!

Anti-Flag - The Bright Lights Of America

Anti-Flag is a punk band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formed in 1988. Despite relatively modest beginnings and a back catalog of independent labels, the band has risen to steady popularity, having performed tours on four continents and signed to a major label. The current lineup includes Justin Sane (vocals/guitar), Chris #2 (vocals/bass), Chris Head (guitar), and Pat Thetic (drums). Past members include Lucy Fester, Andy Flag, and Jamie Cock.

About the album, anti-flag announced it would be different from their previous albums, including different styles,..

The Mars Volta - De-loused In The Comatorium

The Mars Volta are generally considered progressive rock, with jazz and Latin influences. They are known for their wild live shows, extensive jams, cryptic lyrics and experimentation in and use of ambient music to help establish mood.

De-Loused in the Comatorium is the first LP and concept album by the progressive rock band The Mars Volta. Based on a short story by lead singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and sound manipulation artist Jeremy Michael Ward, it is the hour-long tale of Cerpin Taxt, a man who tries to kill himself by overdosing on morphine. The attempt lands him in a week-long coma during which he experiences visions of humanity and his own psyche. Upon waking, he is dissatisfied with the real world and jumps to his death

De-loused in the comatorium is The Mars Volta's debut album, and in my collection (and many others) one of the most popular Mars Volta albums. Just because it is 'easier' to listen to than their other albums.
The album is a masterpiece of blending in different genres of rock.  It is the best album to start getting into The Mars Volta so you can better understand and enjoy frances the mute and amputechture.
The album definatly has a story, and if you look closely at the cover you can see, in the background, a guy in one of those hospital clothes, thats Cerpin Taxt

The Sound Of Animals Fighting - Tiger And The Duke

The Sound of Animals Fighting are an experimental/prog rock band incorporating many members, including members from bands such as Finch, Rx Bandits, Circa Survive and Chiodos. The group was brought together by Rich Balling.
All of the parts of the album Tiger and the Duke were recorded individually and each member was only able to hear the part they contributed to the album. The only member who heard the whole album during its recording process was Balling.

It is a concept album revolving around the title character, Duke, and the Captain who runs the ship they are sailing. The cargo of the ship are crazy animals who howl and fight below the deck. Eventually the Captain's sons start a mutiny in which the Captain jumps off the ship.
This is for everyone who likes At The Drive-In and The Mars Volta! here is there debut album (not the reissued/remixed version)

Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine

Death from Above 1979 were the Toronto-based duo of Jesse F. Keeler on bass/synths and Sebastien Grainger on vocals/drums. Refusing to employ a lead guitarist, they played loud synth infused noise-funk, often referred to as dance punk, on the drum and bass combination alone

Indeed, they were, unfortunatly they split without making another studio album than their debut album. But no worries, it's a great piece of music!
You've got to like the noise genre abit though, but if you are not into that, just try it. What's stopping you anyway, except that cheesy download limit.
